Website: Friends of Nepal Inc.

Friends Of Nepal Inc is a not-for-profit organisation that was established in 1999 and Incorporated in 2005, to raise money to assist various projects in Nepal, and to establish links with Nepali people living in Perth. Committee members are volunteers, who dedicate their time out of a love for Nepal and its people. We thank you for your support, which will help us to fund those less fortunate than ourselves.

The Friends of Nepal Inc is a small independent group working towards helping disadvantaged people in Nepal. Through our fund raising efforts and with  the support of our members, we are able, in our own small way, to make a real difference to people less fortunate than ourselves. One of our beneficiaries is the Helpless Children Mother Centre in Kathmandu, which accommodates up to 26 orphaned and otherwise abandoned children. Our funding partly  provides everyday necessities such as rent, rice, and kerosene for cooking and has in the past provided mattresses, bedding, school fees and a sewing machine for the girls to learn a skill. Any residual funds are available to support other needy projects in Nepal as they arise.

One such project is the Kanti Children.s Hospital in Kathmandu. In 2003 a Perth doctor visited the hospital on our behalf and made recommendations on where funds could be most beneficially used. The needs of such a hospital are great and many, where the lack of resources sees children sharing beds, but Friends of Nepal Inc sent $1,600 to fund the purchase of much needed nebulisers. Earlier in 2005 Friends of Nepal Inc hosted and organised a translator for two Nepalese nurses on an exchange visit to RPH to work with Dr Fiona Woods. Burns Unit Team. Funding for this was made available through Austaid and the McComb Foundation.
